Raftery Festival, November 6th – 13th 2010

Féile Raifteirí, Samhain 06ú – 13ú 2010

This is our 5th ‘In Sight of Raftery Festival’ and we are delighted to be able to announce that our 2010 festival is to be held between November 6th and 13th. Our festival is not huge but it is large in its pursuit of excellence. This year is particularly difficult, as you can imagine, but we will have an interesting programme with something included for everyone.

If one looks back at our past programmes it is evident that we have always tried to include established as well as lesser-known artists, and we place great emphasis on our schools programme as well as having an Irish Language component. This year we are very excited about instigating a Schools Poetry Competition, inviting qualifying poets to a Grand Final in the Town Hall Theatre on November 13th.

We are delighted to introduce our new Festival Coordinator, Úna Flanagan, to you. She is a very busy woman who is full of dreams and ambitions for the expansion of the festival into the event it deserves to be. What other town can boast of having an Anthony Raftery amongst its dear departed ones.

Our programme is still ‘under construction’ and more details will be announced as more confirmations come in. We look forward to your continued support and thank The Arts Council and our sponsors.
